Légende

Robert Brough, 1900-1924. The Aberdeen artist Robert Brough was admitted to the Royal Scottish Academy in 1891, and from there onwards began to develop his own unique, essentially Post Impressionist style. After just a year at the Academy, he started spending time in France, where he employed the methods of the Impressionists and the Nabis, amongst others. These new styles enabled him to capture fleeting moments and expressions, something he is most remembered for today. The artist died a tragic death in 1905, when he sustained severe and fatal burns in a train crash just outside Sheffield.
