Journalist and explorer Henry Morton Stanley was presented with the Freedom of the City of London during a ceremony at the Guildhall on 13 May. 'Several members of the Emin Pasha Relief Committee, and of the Royal Geographical Society, were present.' The Cellular Clothing Company claim in their advert that Stanley endorsed their products, implying he wore their clothing during his African expedition. From "Illustrated London News", 1890.
