The Queen leaving Waddesdon Manor, 1890. 'The visit of her Majesty [Queen Victoria], accompanied by Prince and Princess Henry of Battenberg, to Waddesdon Manor, near Aylesbury, the seat of Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild, M.P., on Wednesday, May 14, was mentioned in our last [issue]... The entrance-gate of Waddesdon Park was decorated, exhibiting the motto "God Save the Queen"; and the Royal standard was hoisted on a flagstaff...Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild showed his Royal visitors the fine collection of pictures and decorative art. He also exhibited the electric lighting of his house...Her Majesty, having stayed at Waddesdon Manor till five o'clock, returned to Aylesbury, and travelled home to Windsor Castle'.
