Arrival of the Queen at Waddesdon Manor, 1890. 'The visit of her Majesty [Queen Victoria] to Waddesdon Manor, near Aylesbury, the seat of Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild, M.P., on Wednesday, May 14, was mentioned in our last [issue]... The entrance-gate of Waddesdon Park was decorated, exhibiting the motto "God Save the Queen"; and the Royal standard was hoisted on a flagstaff... The park and mansion, though a recent creation, within the last fifteen years, have been made very beautiful...Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild showed his Royal visitors the fine collection of pictures and decorative art. He also exhibited the electric lighting of his house'. From "Illustrated London News", 1890.
