Corpses of the French generals Claude Lecomte (1817-1871) and Jacques Leon Clément-Thomas (1809-1871), Paris Commune, France, 1871. They were pelted with rocks and lynched on 18 March 1871 at the local headquarters of the National Guard, at the ballroom of the Château Rouge, and then taken to 6 Rue des Rosiers in Montmartre by a group called The Committee of Vigilance of the 18th arrondissement, who demanded that they be tried and executed. Popular revolutionary movement that took power in Paris from 18 March to 28 May 1871, during the Franco-Prussian War.
