Bess Thomas, Chief Librarian Mosman Library, 1945 -1962. Bess Thomas on the library's last day at the Belmont Road premises, 11 October 1952. When Bess Thomas (1892-1968) became Mosman's chief librarian in 1945, the year Mosman Council adopted the Library Act, she was the first woman to be appointed as Municipal Librarian in New South Wales.
