Rough seas at Balmoral Beach, 1960s. Additional Info: The name Balmoral came from Balmoral Gardens opened in 1862 by John Edwards. The name was first applied to the shore north of Rocky Point, where it gradually superseded 'Edwards Beach', but in time the name Balmoral also spread along the rest of the beach south of Rocky Point.
