'The respectable and influential Jewish religious community in England has lost an eminent minister by the death of the venerable Dr. Adler...The funeral...was an interesting ceremony. The body...was taken to the Great Synagogue in Aldgate, where a procession of carriages was formed, and it was conveyed through London to Willesden, halting at the offices of the Synagogue in Great Portland-street... Among those who took part in the funeral were the Rev. Dr. Hildesheimer, Chief Rabbi of the Orthodox Jews at Berlin; the Rev. Dr. Moses Gaster, Chief Rabbi of the Spanish and Portuguese Jews in London; Dr. M. Friedlander, Principal of the Jews' College in London; the Rev. B. Spiers, and other Rabbinical Assessors; Sir Philip Magnus; Mr. J. Sebag Montefiore, High Sheriff of Kent; Mr. S. Montagu, M.P.; Mr. Arthur Cohen, M.P.; the Rev. A. Lowy, the Rev. R. S. Singer, and other gentlemenThe chief mourners were the three sons - the Rev. Dr. Hermann Adler, Mr. Marcus Adler, and Mr. Elkan Adler...The funeral service, in Hebrew, was read by the Rev.
