The late Admiral Sir B. J. Sulivan, 1890. 'Admiral Sir Bartholomew James Sulivan, K.C.B., died at Bournemouth on Jan. 1. He was born in 1810, the son of the late Rear-Admiral Thomas Ball Sulivan, C.B.; was educated at the Royal Naval College, and entered the Royal Navy in 1824. He became Lieutenant in 1830, and attained the rank of Admiral in 1877. In 1854-5 he served as senior Surveying Officer to the Baltic Fleet, and took part in the operations at Bomarsund and Sweaborg. From 1856 to 1864 he was Naval Officer to the Board of Trade. He married, in 1837, Sophia, daughter of Vice-Admiral James Young'. Portrait from a photograph by Mr. G.
