The author...spent four months, December to April, 1882, in an East African sporting expedition...for the anecdotes of personal experience of hunting and shooting, and of natural history,...his book, "The Wild Tribes of the Soudan," will obtain its due share of public attention...[Readers] will find instruction in this volume, which is very well put together; and the woodcuts and etchings have much artistic merit. They are either copied from photographs by Mr. W. D. James and Mr. G. P. V. Aylmer, with some by Professor Buchta, of Munich; or from sketches by Sir. R. B. Colvin'.
