Sketches from "Ingomar" at the Lyceum Theatre, 1883. 'Miss Mary Anderson as Parthenia; Mr. J. G. Taylor as Polydor; Alastor, Mr. J. A. Rosier; Mrs. A. Stirling as Actea; "The Crying Baby", Mr. W. H. Stephens; Mr. J. H. Barnes as Ingomar...Draughtsman, photographer, and engraver have combined this week to portray the charming and talented young American actress...she made her debut, at the age of sixteen, in the debutante's favourite character of Juliet, at Louisville...Considering that Miss Anderson is but twenty-four, her future should have many brilliant triumphs in store. Her grace, beauty, and naturalness as Parthenia have won for her a warm reception at the Lyceum; and our bewitching visitor has every reason to be...contented with the stalwart chieftain provided for her in the person of Mr. J. H. Barnes. Miss Anderson is delineated in some of her most statuesque poses by Mr. Harry Furniss, who also gives sketches of handsome Mr. Barnes as Ingomar, Mr. W. H. Stephens as Myron...and that quaint low comedian, Mr. J. G. Taylor, as Polydor...we shall all look forward with pleasure to see Miss Mary Anderson in her next assumption at the Lyceum. Our Portrait is from a fine photograph by Messrs. W. and D. Downey. From "Illustrated London News", 1883.
