Dominican Church after the Fire of 1850. In July 1850, a fire broke out in Krakow, which lasted several days and consumed a large part of the city. It began at Dolnych Mlynów Street and through Krupnicza Street it reached the Main Market Square, Grodzka and Franciszkanska Streets, Dominikanski Square, and then to St. Gertrude Street. The church of the Dominicans was burned down. Gorczynski painted a view of the burnt area from the side of St. Peter's Street. showing the remains of burnt houses standing on this street.
