The Chiswick School of Art, 1881. 'The new School of Art for Chiswick, situated in Bedford Park, was opened last Saturday evening. This building, designed by Mr. Maurice B. Adams, architect, of Woodstock-road, Bedford Park, honorary secretary to the School of Art, is in the same picturesque style of architecture that distinguishes all the houses on the Bedford Park Estate. Its external ornamentation is highly tasteful and artistic, while its internal accommodation, as regards light and space, is admirably adapted for the work of an art school. The course of study is to comprehend all branches of free-hand drawing, practical geometry and perspective, painting in oil, designing, and many other subjects. The directors are Mr. E. S. Burchett, of the South Kensington Schools, and Mr. F. Hamilton Jackson, formerly of the Slade School, University College. Classes will here be formed for art needlework, for pottery and tile painting, and also for etching'. From "Illustrated London News", 1881.
