'The False Charge; The Escaped Convict; The Arrest; I'll fall in love with myself before the glass; O go to the charity organization tomorrow; But she may die tonight; It's coves like me as keeps coves like you; What do you say if I get you three months to cure that cough - Thank ye Sir; Virtue victorious and vice vanquished...The repentant prodigal brings home his fainting wife to her old father's arms...the unfortunate fellow is arrested...after enduring the agonies and humiliation of penal servitude, [he] escapes...and is picked up half dead in the snow...Meanwhile, the crafty cousin, Clifford Armytage,...is dividing his time between extravagant living and the girl he has ruined...Harold Armytage and his delicate wife...are driven to the workhouse steps, where two kind Christian friends recommend an application to the Charity Organization Society...to preserve the life of a dying woman..after a desperate fight in the garret and a mauling in the streets, a hand-to-hand encounter with costermongers, policemen, and roughs,...the innocence of the much-afflicted Harold Armytage is satisfactorily proved, the villany of his cousin Clifford is unmasked'.
