Légende

Expugnation of Lagny, 1590, (1748). On September 7, 1590, troops led by Alexander Farnese assaulted by surprise the fortress of Lagny, on the banks of the Marne River in France. The soldiers took advantage of a breach in the old wall to take the city. Farnese, in a quick manoeuvre, sent a large number of barges loaded with provisioning supplies to Paris. The word expugnation means the act of storming or taking by force. From " Wars of Flanders", Edition published in Antwerp, 1748.
