Seven Years War (1756-1763): Third Silesian War - Siege of Schweidnitz (7 August to 9 October, 1762), 1765. The Prussian army of Frederick the Great besieged the city, whose fortress was being defended by the Austrian garrison under General Franz Guasco. On 8 October, a Prussian mine dug under the town exploded the powder magazine. Next day, the city surrendered. The next day the city capitulated. Published in 1765 by the cartographer Jean de Beaurain (1696-1771) as an illustration of his "Great Map of Germany, with the events that took place during the Seven Years War". French edition, 1765.
