Arrival of the Emperor of Russia at Windsor, 1874. Alexander II on a state visit to England. 'The Coldstream Guards formed a guard of honour. An escort of the 1st Life Guards was ready to attend the Czar to the Castle. The band of that regiment played the Russian Anthem...The Emperor, with the Prince of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh [Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna, daughter of the Czar], entered the foremost of the Royal carriages in waiting...[In] the quadrangle of the Castle,...the Russian National Anthem was again played by the band of the Coldstream Guards.
