The Civil War in Spain: Carlist sketches from Navarre, 1874. 'Elizondo, Carlist Head Quarters, Navarre; Carlist Troops going to prayer in the Church, Elizondo; Frontier between Bayonne & Pamplona; Carabinero; Republican Volunteer; Frontier between France & Spain; Fontarabia; Temporary fortification, entrance to Irun; Hotel de Ville, Irun...Ernani and Renteria, near San Sebastian, were surrounded by Carlists, and in the latter town the sound of cannon was heard from the heights of Santa Barbara, which command the town of Ernani. Shots were now and then exchanged between the volunteers of Fontarabia and Carlist marauders. The heights of San Marcial, above Irun, were fortified by the Carlists'.
