Voyage to the Gold Coast of Africa: a negro strike at Sierra Leone, 1874. 'The voyage to the Gold Coast of West Africa in the mail steam-packet Volta has been accomplished by our Special Artist, Mr. Melton Prior, who...made a sketch of the appearance and attitudes of a gang of "Sierra Leone boys," engaged to work in unloading the cargo or shipping stores, when they had a dispute about an addition to the stipulated wages, and took to using their tongues.'
