Pantheon's pediment, Paris, France, 2008. Sculpted by Pierre-Jean David d’Angers (1788-1856). In the center, the Republic handing crowns to Liberty (left) while History (right corner) writes down the names of those deemed worthy of the crowns. In the first row, the recipients are Malesherbes, Mirabeau, Monge and Fenelon. In the second row are Lazare Carnot, Berthollet and Laplace. To the right of the central group, Napoleon Bonaparte leads an army of anonymous soldiers.
