Thiriaque, 14th century. Theriac or theriaca was an ointment or potion, used as an alexipharmic, or antidote, for a variety of poisons and diseases. It was also considered a panacea, a term for which it could be used interchangeably. From Tacuinum Sanitatis Folio 53v, a medieval handbook on health.
