Guy Fawkes and Satan outside the Houses of Parliament, 1617. The Gunpowder Plot. 'See, here, the Popish Pouder-plots fair thriving; Fauks and his Father-Satan sit contriving The fatall-Instruments, to puffe and blow Hell out of Earth, a State to over-throw, At Once, for All: But, here, behold likewise, Heavens All-seeing-Eye, which deepest-pits espies: This desperate Worke of Darknesse sees most clear, And, timely, makes the mischief All appeare: To Israels blessed Shepheards endlesse glory, As is full-shown in this succeeding Story'.
