Sailors and Maoris on the deck of a ship, c1850. Two sailors, both rather piratically attired, on the deck of a ship. One smokes a pipe while the other drinks from a glass. With them on the ship are a Maori woman and man, the latter lounging on the deck. From "Water-colour drawings, lithographs, and pencil sketches, illustrating scenery, manners, costume, and features of the natives, etc, in New Zealand, by Charles Heaphy, Cuthbert Clarke, George F Swainson, and other Draughtsmen", 1848-1853.
