Accounts of the wardrobe of King Edward I, 1303. These accounts record daily receipts and payments by the wardrobe, the department of the royal household which was responsible for organising military supplies and acted as a war treasury, during the campaign of Edward I in Scotland in 1303. The entries illustrated here cover the period 25th September to 11th October when Edward left Lochindorb in Morayshire, where he had received the submission of the Scottish lords, and, after moving along the coast towards Elgin, headed south along the road to Dundee. The left-hand column gives details of receipts, together with a note of the date and place and the balance remaining at the end of each day. Items of expenditure are listed on the right, with a daily total.
