The "Act in Restraint of Appeals to Rome", reformation statute, 1533. This was the first of the statutes for the reformation of the English church passed under Henry VIII to attack directly the pope's authority in England. Pictured is a draft of the act which contains a few amendments by Henry himself. Underneath the fourth line he has inserted the words; 'off and frome the sayd imperiall crowne and none other wyse', in order to emphasise the power of both secular and church courts derived from the king.
