An alchemist with a flask, 1582. An alchemical adept carries the vase of Hermes. A scroll attached to the flask reads 'Eamus Quesitum Quasuor Elemementorum naturas' (Let us go in search of the natures of the four elements). Border decoration with flowers, birds, including an owl and peacock, and at the foot, a stag and doe lying amongst flowers and berries. Illustration of the First Treatise.
