Group of infantry, Queen's Own Corps of Guides, c1880. The Corps of Guides was a regiment of the British Indian Army, made up of British and Indian officers, plus Indian cavalry sowars and infantry sepoys, primarily intended for service on the North West Frontier. The regiment served in the second Afghan War, before returning to India.
