Lord Howe Island, New South Wales, Australia, 1799. The island was discovered and named by Lieutenant Henry Lidgbird Ball whilst sailing from Sydney to Norfolk Island, in 1788. He named it after the First Lord of the Admiralty, Lord Howe.
