Exhibition of Antient [sic] Mexico at the Egyptian Hall, Piccadilly, London, c1824. Ancient Mexico was an exhibition by William Bullock of casts of Aztec artefacts and both copies and originals of Aztec codices. Objects exhibited included the "calendar stone" (described as "Montezuma's watch"), the statue of Coatlicue (called "Teoyamiqui"), the Stone of Tizoc, and an unidentified statue of a giant serpent. The collection apparently included 'specimens of fruits, plants and flowers, panoramic views of the country and models of dwellings, and other items which give an idea of the people, idols, and customs'. A Mexican man attended the room to describe the artefacts to the visitors.
