The Chateau of Arenenberg, Switzerland, formerly the residence of Napoleon III., 1865. 'The Chateau of Arenenberg, Switzerland, which was for some years the residence of the Emperor Napoleon III. when Prince Louis Napoleon, dwelling there with his mother, the Duchesse de St. Leu, ex-Queen of Holland, is situated near Berlingen, a village in the Swiss Canton of Thurgovie, on the banks of the Rhine, just below the Lake of Constance. The Emperor having lately paid a visit to this place, which is of course much endeared to him by many recollections of his youth, the view we have engraved, from a sketch by Miss C. Morier, will doubtless be interesting to many of our readers. It is a mansion of no pretensions to grandeur, but rather prettily designed, with something fantastic in its style of ornamentation. The garden and shrubberies are very pleasant. After the death of Queen Hortense, it fell into the hands of a Swiss gentleman, from whom it has been repurchased by the Emperor, and will be sacredly preserved as a memorial of his affection for her memory - which is not the least of his merits in the eyes of the French people'.
