Box in which the freedom of the City [of London] was presented to Garibaldi, 1864. General Garibaldi received an address and gifts from the Italian committee of London at the Crystal Palace. '...the box in which the freedom of the City was presented to him...[was] made by Hancock, of Braton-street, [and] is a massive gold one, ornamented with garlands of flowers and the arms of the city of London on the lid. There is the letter "G," in diamonds, with a gold star, on the front of the box'. From "Illustrated London News", 1864.
