View of the interior of a '...Lutheran parish church in Schleswig...The foreign soldiers, who have turned this building into a barrack-room, lie dozing, for the most part, upon heaps of straw, the floor having been cleared, we suppose, by the removal of the partitions and pews, to afford greater space for their accommodation. Three of them are lounging in the central aisle; one is eating, while the other two are smoking their pipes. The present Illustration no doubt shows one of the common incidents of warfare, but it will appear, to the eyes of many of our readers, a scandalous and disagreeable scene, though it is one which should not be omitted from our pages, for the sake of historical truth'.
