Memorial window by Messrs. Cox and Son, Christchurch, Worthing, 1862. '...Messrs. Cox and Son have...exhibited the capabilities of the kilns which they have recently erected and of all the scientific improvements adopted at their works in Maiden-lane. The lower part of the window is occupied by the figure of St. John, holding in his hand the stylus and the roll of parchment and listening to the voice of the angel, who also bears a scroll, on which is inscribed, "Write, blessed are the dead which die in the Lord." The figure of the Evangelist is richly canopied, while the angel is medallioned: both are set in grisaille work, and the window itself is surrounded by a border of foliage intermixed with variously-coloured glass. The face of the angel was, we believe, copied from a portrait of the lady to whose memory the window has just been fixed...We trust we shall not be thought to touch upon a matter of only a personal and family interest by mentioning that the work was executed for Mr. R. P. Daniell, of Bond- street, as a memorial of the late Mrs. Daniell, and the well-known ability of that gentleman in relation to the fine arts is in itself a guarantee of the excellence of Messrs.
