Légende

The Bay of Finlarig, Loch Tay, Perthshire, with the mausoleum of the Breadalbane family, 1862. 'The mausoleum, in which are now laid the mortal remains of the late Marquis of Breadalbane, little more than a year after the same sad ceremony was performed over those of the lamented Marchioness, is situated in a wooded promontory on the western shore of Loch Tay, Perthshire. The building is comparatively modern, surrounded by the ruins of Finlarig Castle, an ancient seat of the Breadalbane family, within whose ivy-covered walls lie many illustrious ancestors of the Campbell clan. The spot is most romantic in its position and associations: beneath hanging woods of beech and sycamore, and the more distant undulations of moor and mountain, the small unpretending chapel casts the reflection of its white walls upon the Bay of Finlarig. On Tuesday week the burial of their respected chieftain, performed with all the picturesque observances of a highland funeral, attracted a crowd of mourners of all classes, most of whom knew the worth of the late Marquis and had experienced his kindness'.
