The International Exhibition: group of glass, by Messrs. Phillips, of Oxford-street and Bond-street, 1862. 'The shape [of the central vase], while novel, is good, the division into primary parts and the relation of the parts to each other, being well managed. The enrichment is skilfully composed and is beautiful in its parts, and the jewelling is well managed...The ornament applied to this vase is of a Gothic character, and is in tolerably good keeping throughout. The vase to the right is of a fine classic form, and has a somewhat Roman character. The engraving is very fine, hut the ornament in itself is not of the most satisfactory character. The ewer and cup on the left constitute part of the "Iliad Dessert Service," which is full of beautiful work and excellent qualities. The ornament is simple, consisting of the wave, lines, and dots, and the classic figure subject, which is flatly and simply treated. The form of the jug is peculiarly elegant, and the cup is in good keeping with it. The little tazza is of a simple Gothic character - a little trefoil leaf so arranged as to surround a jewel and fill a quatrefoil space constitutes its enrichment'.
