The Great Naval Review: "No Beds" - drawn by Phiz, 1856. Crowds flock to the Hampshire coast for a display by the Royal Navy - accommodation is quickly snapped up. 'So great was the influx of persons on the Tuesday evening, the day immediately preceding the review, that hundreds of persons were unable to procure any sleeping accommodation at all; while those who were more fortunate and were able to procure beds did so at great pecuniary sacrifice'.
