Silver-gilt Inkstand for Presentation by Her Majesty to the King of Siam, 1856. 'An Inkstand, probably the most brilliant and beautiful article of the kind ever made, has been manufactured by Mr. P. G. Dodd, jeweller, of Cornhill...It is of silver, electro-gilt, and, although not of very great intrinsic value, deserves notice as a work of art. The figures, emblematical of science, and the ornamental portions generally are executed with great taste. The inscription on the inkstand states that it is presented by the Queen to the King of Siam, whose names are fully set forth: they are - Phra Bard Somdetch Phra Paramendr Maha Mougkat Phra Chom Klau Chau Yu Hua. At a recent meeting of the Asiatic Society, the Secretary, on behalf of the Council, submitted to the meeting the name of the chief King of Siam, and that of his brother and subordinate Prince, for election as honorary members of this society'.
