Ah! Ciel, ma plus belle potiche!..., 1855. ...ce que j'ai de plus précieux au monde!...(Oh! Heavens, my most beautiful vase!...the most precious thing I have in the world!...) La Potichomanie (potichomania). Potichomania was a process invented in the 18th century to imitate expensive Chinese porcelain. It involved cutting out paper illustrations, gluing them to the inside of a glass vase, and then coating the exterior surface with a background paint to give the piece the appearance of painted porcelain.
