Slave hire agreement, January 29, 1825. A promissory note for $184.75, the document also includes a list of clothing and a blanket to be given to the slave. 'On or before the 25th December next we pr [illegible] of us promise to pay H. [illegible] One Hundred eighty four dollars 75 cents for the hire of negro [illegible] and to give said negro [illegible] own good summer suit of Cloths, one woolen suit one wool hat [illegible] three & half [illegible] Blanket one pair of woolen socks or stockings and one pair of good [illegible] sole shoes which said sum of One Hundred eighty four dollars 75 cents may be discharged in curent bank notes if paid on the said 25th day of December next. Witness our hand and seal this 29th day of January 1825'. Signatures, including that of William Waters.
