The Europa Steam-Ship leaving Kingstown with the 90th Regiment on board, for the Seat of War, 1854. 'The large ocean paddle-wheel steamer Europa, one of the Cunard Company's...mail-steamers, was taken up by Government...for the conveyance of troops to the Crimea...a company of the Royal Artillery...embarked in the Europa, then lying in the Huskisson Dock, Liverpool; and...a detachment of infantry from London...went on board the steamer, which sailed that evening for Dublin...the whole of the 90th Light Infantry left the Royal Barracks, Dublin, for the railway to Kingstown...followed by a dense mass of people, whose frequent cheers drowned the music of the bands...A large assemblage of spectators was collected to witness their embarkation, and in a short time the whole of the 860 soldiers of the 90th Regiment were on board the transport, which sailed for the Crimea next morning'.
