The Domum, at Winchester College, 1854. Annual singing of the school song, which dates back to at least 1773, at Winchester College, a private boys' school in Hampshire. 'The dinner in the ancient Hall was fully attended by old Wykehamists. On the dais, upon the wainscoting, were hung pictures of the founder, William of Wykeham, and of Dr. Goddard and Dr. Cheney, formerly head-masters...The time-honoured song, "Dulce Domum," under the direction of the Prefect of Hall, was chanted, with the wonted zeal and hearty love of Wykehamists - accompanied by the band of the 34th Regiment...'. From "Illustrated London News", 1854.
