Cape Waggon, 1850. '...the noted Waggon of the Cape, described by all travellers, from Burchell and Barrow to those of the present day. Drawn by almost a drove of oxen, and driven by a carter with a whip of unwieldy length, the team reminds one of the slowness with which the Dutch farmers - generally the possessors of these waggons - have ever adopted improvements'.
