Market Day, c1780-1825. 'It is interesting to note Rowlandson's love of drawing animals, especially horses and dogs. They give life and naturalness to his market and tavern scenes and are just as remarkable as his characters, not only for fidelity in construction, but for the great skill shown in representing them in repose or often in complex movement'.
