A view from the roof of the Co-operative Society Building on Dantzic Street, looking north-east over the construction site for the Co-operative Insurance Society (CIS) Building, showing the construction of the ground floor slab over the deep basement section. The caption beneath the corresponding print of this image reads: "Foreground columns ready to receive floor slab were built off an existing air raid shelter roof. Weitz G60 and Buildmaster Tower Cranes are in use over the deep basement and shelter roof sections respectively. Concrete mixing plant can be seen in the right of the photograph."
