A gelatin silver photograph of a young woman holding a pistol. Seated on the grass by a mature tree, a man and woman, both wearing brimmed hats, are captured leaning against one another. The woman wears a long bright dress and a bow at the neck, while holding a pistol in her proper right hand, pointing towards the tree. The man with her rests his proper left hand inside the crook of her elbow. He wears a neckerchief, a single breasted jacket, dark trousers and heeled boots. The back of the photograph’s plain mount has handwritten inscriptions written in graphite: [Will Payne / addie Payne / at home / at home Texas].
