Hardcover copy of "On the Art of the Theatre" by Edward Gordon Craig, one of the seminal texts of theatre theory and practice, owned by Lois Mailou Jones and signed by her. Jones (1905-1998) was an African-American textile designer, painter and teacher who lived as an expatriate in Paris. Her work was influenced by the Harlem Renaissance movement. The binding is tan with light brown textured fabric over the spine. The front cover has a central red logo with [G C] and a flower inside a circle. The spine reads [On the / Art of / the / Theatre / Edward / Gordon / Craig] in red printed text at the top. [Browne's Bookstore] is in red at the bottom of the spine. The back cover is blank. The book pages have a deckle edge. There are handwritten inscriptions inside the book. 296 pages of text.
