Originally named Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, the Black Panther Party is an African American revolutionary movement founded in 1966 in Oakland, California, by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale. Names (and photographs) of members persecuted by the police appear next to text describing their treatment by the state. Rows of squares mark the days of each month.
