A reddish brown stereograph of the Slave Market, Atlanta, GA.The street scene is almost devoid of people, showing a block of commercial buildings on a slightly down-sloping street. The central building has a sign that reads“CHINA GLASS / & / QUEENSWARE” on the upper floor and “AUCTION & NEGRO SALES” on the bottom floor. A window on the bottom floor has a sign that reads “LAMP, PINE / & / KEROSENE OILS.” Sitting in front of the store is a man in dark clothing. He is wearing a hat and has a rifle propped next to him against a window of the center building. The building on the left side of the image has a sign that reads “F. GEUTEBRUCK.” The buildings on the right side of the image has a sign that reads “ATLANTA / CIGAR / MANUFACTORY.” Printed vertically on the yellow card stock to the right of the images is “THE WAR FOR THE UNION.” A blue piece of paper with black text is adhered to the back of the card. The text reads “WAR VIEWS./The Slave Market, Atlanta, Ga./No. 3608/Published by E. & H. T. Anthony & Co.,/American and Foreign Stereoscopic Emporium, 501 Broadway, New-York.” Also on the blue sheet of paper is an Internal Revenue Two Cent Proprietary stamp featuring an image of George Washington.
