'The Trial of the Earl of Strafford in Westminster Hall, 1641', (1947). Thomas Wentworth (1593-1641) was the leading adviser of King Charles I in the period leading up to the English Civil War. His attempt to consolidate the sovereign power of the king led to his impeachment at Westminster Hall in London. Strafford was found guilty of high treason and executed at Tower Hill.
