Légende
Water Jug, c. 1770. Cream coloured earthenware was introduced by Wedgwood in the 1760s. He exported it to the continent, where it was quickly imitated. In France the ware was known as faience fine and the Pont-aux-Choux factory in Paris was the most famous manufacturuer of such wares. Cream ware was harder and thus more duable than traditional faience.
